Case description

Background: Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) is considered to be a step forward in laparoscopic methods of treatment. Only one incision is done and through it two or more ports are inserted. The basis of the technique are similar to traditional laparoscopy. This management is applied for many kinds of surgeries. In the video it was used to repair a hernia. Case report: Right hemicolon excision was performed previously on a 61-year old patient due to a sessile polyp. After the wound infection the patient presented with a postoperative hernia. He was adviced a SILS management, on which he consented. During the procedure standard tools were utilized. Results: There was no intra- or postoperative complication. The patient went home on POD1, no recurrence was noted till now. Conclusions: SILS can be applied in many different procedures. It gives better cosmetics result, but the further studies on the larger group of patients, are needed in order to assess advantages of this technique.The video presentations is made in order to help to improve the other surgeons the SILS method.
