Case description

Description: A 54-year old lady suffered from symptomatic adenoma of the right adrenal gland. Because a metastsis in lungs were found and Cushing syndrome was serious, a right adrenal gland was removed (palliative surgery), before administering the chemotherapy. Intervention: Right adrenal grand removal with a laporoscopic approach was performed. Bleeding was prevent by using the EnSeal tool, characterized by good current control and and minimal spread of the heath. Vein of the adrenal gland was partitioned with a US Endo GIA stapler. Results: After the patient recovery, the ajuvant chemotherapy was administered. The histological exam showed 5 cm per 4 cm per 4 cm adenoma build of non-small cell lung cancer (metastatic). Conclusion: Laparoscopic approach remains a valuable option for the adrenal mass excision and gives faster recovery. We used the EnSeal tool for the first time and considered it to be an effective and secure instrument. This kind of lung metastasis is very uncommon (0,14%-0,63%) and exicion of the tumor is connected with the better survival rate. Authors: Fuad Alkhoury MD, JT Martin MD, WS Helton MD, S Yood MD MPH
