Case description

Description: Laparoendoscopic Single-Site Surgery (LESS) is becoming more and more popular. The main advantages of this approach are: little scarrying, economic procedure, simplicity and minimal pain after the intervention. However, sometimes crossing or articulating tools are demanded e.g da Vinci robot. This is a comparison study of Single-Incision right colon removal 4 robotic methods with a classical laparoscopic approach. Methods: Single-incision removals of the right colon were made with a help of standard tools for laparoscopy or Da Vinci robot with the following variants: single 4cm-port, 3 ports and SILS port. In all hemicolectomies continuity of gastric duct was provided and surgery proceed medially to laterally. Results: Intraopertive and postoperative course remained unevenful in all cases. Time of the procedure duration was 152 min. in comparison to 125 min. in a classical laparoscopy. One robotic surgery was decided to be converted to non robotic single-incision intervention due to leakage of air in the areas around the port. Conclusions: Single-incision removal of the right colon is considered to be safe and applicable technique, both laproscopic and robotically-assisted. The main advantages of the single-incision approach are little incision with poor scarrying and minimal pain after the intervention. Authors: M. Ostrowitz, G. DeNoto
