Cecal Ulcer due to NSAID's

Case description

Patient is a 58 year old who presented with 3 weeks of hematochezia with bright red blood per rectum and a hemoglobin drop to 9. Her PMH was significant for migraines and she had a small bowel resection for a small bowel obstruction 30 years ago. She also had a history of having a hernia surgery.

She was prepped for a colonoscopy and she was found to have a large cecal ulcer which was at least 3 cm in diameter with no visible vessel and no active bleeding. She had been taking a significant amount of aspirin for her headaches and this was felt to be the source of the ulcer.
