Case description

After completion of this video session, it is expected that you will be able to:
Describe and explain the deformity produced by this fracture
Illustrate how to measure the length of the lower limb
Identify Shenton’s line and recognize its significance
Outline the attachment of the capsule of the hip joint and recognize the significance of retinacular fibers in relation to blood vessels.
Identify ligamentum teres of the head of the femur and recognize its role in the blood supply of the head of the femur.
Describe the trochanteric anastomosis
Correlate avascular necrosis of head of the femur with femoral neck fractures
Associate the anatomy of blood supply with the femoral head replacement.
