The desire to obtain the least invasive access to the peritoneal cavity sets the challenge for a nowadays surgery. Single Site Laparoscopy (SSL) becomes one of the main representatives of this stream as it offers the benefits of minimal incision and upholds the potential for being safe and feasible. In this video we would like to present the advantages as well as to show the deficiencies arising from the application of SSL Access System in Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LAGB).

Thirty five year old patient, with BMI of 36.9 and concomitant hypertension together with hyperthyroidism and previous surgical history of three cesarean sections underwent a procedure for LAGB in the department of General and Vascular Surgery, Hospital in Wejherowo, Poland. The operation has been performed using the SSL Access System via one transumblical incision, REALIZE® Adjustable Gastric Band has been implanted. The procedure lasted 40 minutes. There were no complications.
The video shows that the operation is both feasible and safe. Furthermore it improves cosmetic results and more importantly reduces postoperative pain and trauma.
