The World and Chilean Epidemiological Panorama 2022 is a report that presents anoverview of the health situation in the world and in Chile. Regarding Organ Donationand Transplant Activity, Chile has had an organ donation rate of 7.2 and 7.4 permillion inhabitants in the years 2020 and 2021 respectively. Regarding mortality onthe waiting list, Chilean data show a mortality of 17% in patients waiting for lung andup to 32% for liver. The low rate of organ donation, the high mortality on the waitinglist and a projection towards an increase in demand, make it important that as acountry we can explore all options that allow us to improve and enhance access toorgans suitable for transplant.
