Case description

Video showing a case of 74 year old male with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. He has difficulty breathing even walking one block. His work up from his lung doctor did not show anything wrong. The autor performed bronchoscopy (looking at the trachea and bronchi leading to the lungs) in the office, under topical anesthesia. The patient had a Saber Sheath Trachea. This is a narrowing of the trachea from side to side instead of being almost round...the shape of sheath of a saber sword. This narrowing results in the difficult breathing of this patient, as he can move less air due to the change in the shape of the trachea and the collapse of the walls.
