Case description

A mucocele develops the paranasal sinuses when there connection with the respiratory tract is blocked [the ostium]. This results in time of complete resorption of the air within the sinus and as the mucoperiosteum continues to secreted mucus into the paranasal sinus it fills up and over time the amount of pressure that this continuing mucus secretion develops is so high that over time it expands the bony wall of the sinus as seen in this right maxillary sinus.
