Case description
Atrophic rhinitis is an idiopathic, chronic degenerative disorder that affects both the nasal mucous membranes and the turbinates. The turbinates atrophy and the nasal cavities become abnormally patent. Atrophic rhinitis is characterized by the accumulation of a large greenish yellow crusts as seen in this left nasal cavity, and severe fetor. Fortunately most of these patients are anosmic.
