Case description

In some patients, a structural deficiency in the surrounding and supporting fibrillar elastic cartilage allows the external portion of the auditory canal to collapse, leaving only a slit like narrow lumen. Pressure against such an external auditory canal, headphone the increase the amount of collapse to such an extent that the external canal becomes completely occluded.
