Case description

Acute Perichondritis is caused by a bacterial infection of the perichondrium of the auricular cartilage which is usually the result of trauma to the pinna. Acute perichondritis most commonly occurs following lacerations or incisions that extend through the perichondrium. Clinically, the skin of the pinna is diffusely swollen, painful and tender.
