Case description
Trichilemmal cysts originate from the outer root sheath of the hair follicle [the trichilemma]. Pilar cysts occur most commonly on the scalp where they are clinically indistinguishable from epidermal cysts. Histologically, a pilar cyst is lined with epithelial cells that lack visible intercellular bridges.
