Cerumenolytics That Do Work
Case description
The only cerumenolytics that are truly effective are based in an aqueous solution. A piece of cerumen is placed in each test tube and an aqueous solution was added 24 hours previously. These solutions from left to right were: plain water, 10% sodium bicarbonate in water, and normal saline solution. With each of these solutions the cerumen has been "dissolved" and the end result are large swollen aggregations of keratin squames.
