Case description

This patient with atelectasis has lost the fibrous supporting middle layer of the tympanic membrane over the posterior inferior quadrant. The patient has just performed an autoinflation and pushed this thin dimeric portion of the tympanic membrane laterally herniating it into the external canal where it appears as a giant air-filled bubble.
