Protrusive Dental Pearl: Predict the Complication Before It Happens

Before every deep restoration, explain the possible nerve complications. Show the patient the images and warn them that hot or cold sensitivity may linger for a few days. Advise painkillers and keeping the area clean.

Also explain the red flags: severe throbbing pain, pain that keeps them awake, or spontaneous pain without eating or drinking means they should call you.

This reassures patients, reduces panicked callbacks and shows that you anticipated the complication rather than something simply going wrong.
