Case description

All cataract surgeons face someday a situation where the intraocular lens (IOL) comes out broken from the cartridge or it gets stuck in the cartridge and breaks while separating it. Explanting such IOL is necessary as they won't be stable in the eye. Explanting an IOL from a small incision without sutures is necessary to learn for all cataract surgeons. This video demonstrates one technique of folding the IOL in the anterior chamber using an iris spatula and McPherson's tying forceps and explanting it without any need for sutures at the main incision.
