Case description

Triangle of Doom is a triangular area containing major vessels, so placing tacks or sutures here is dangerous. Its boundaries are:

Medial: vas deferens,

Lateral: testicular vessels

Base (inferior): peritoneal reflection.

Its contents are: external iliac artery, external iliac vein, deep circumflex iliac vein.

Triangle of pain is an area containing important sensory nerves of the thigh and groin.

Its boundaries are:

Medial: testicular vessels

Superior: Iliopubic tract

Inferolateral: peritoneal reflection.

Its contents (nerves) are: lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, femoral branch of the genitofemoral nerve, occasionally branches of femoral nerve.

Tacks here may cause chronic postoperative neuralgia or thigh pain.
