The objective of the five-day Clinical Endocrinology course is to provide an update to practicing endocrinologists and internists/primary care providers with an interest in endocrinology. It is attended by physicians and other health care providers seeking to learn about evidence- based evaluation methods and treatments as well as current clinical guidelines, and understand the most clinically applicable recent research related to the pathophysiology of endocrine illnesses. A faculty of over 40 speakers, primarily Harvard Medical School faculty and several select outside experts, chosen for their recognized educational and communication skills, present the most up to day, evidence-based approach to problems such as osteoporosis, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, pituitary tumors, the menopause, thyroid abnormalities, reproductive dysfunction, renal stones, as well as a broad spectrum of other clinical problems in endocrinology. Each day is organized around one of the major topics to be covered: the 2013 proposal is for Pituitary disease on Wednesday, Thyroid disease on Thursday, Diabetes, Obesity and Lipid disorders on Friday, Calcium, Bone and Osteoporosis on Saturday, and Reproductive and Adrenal disorders on Sunday. Special emphasis is given to an interactive, case-study method with attendee participation in some of the sessions and in all of the small evening problem sessions. A comprehensive syllabus is provided.
