Case description

Echocardiogram (4 chamber view) of a patient with an apical wall motion abnormality: The apical segments of the left ventricle have reduced systolic thickening and reduced systolic inward motion. This is due to an old anterior wall myocardial infarction ( caused by obstuction at the left anterior descending coronary artery-LAD). The basal segments of the left ventricle have a good contractile function. In this view the interventricular septum is shown on the left and the lateral wall of the left ventricle on the right side of the screen.
