Darnell Ilse Kleynhans was born on the 4th of July 1968, in Edleen, Kempton Park, South Africa.
At the age of 3, her father Schalck, mother Martie and twin brothers Tertius and Rudi, moved to Rangeview, Krugersdorp, where she later matriculated at Bastion High School.
She acquired her B.Sc. degree in Dietetics and finished her post-graduate diploma in hospital dietetics at the University of Pretoria.
She also acquired a diploma in dental surgery assistance.
She starts her professional career at Pelonomi Hospital, Bloemfontein, where she mostly handles specialised (ICU) feeding.
Thereafter she joined the corporate industry as a specialist pharmaceutical representative : she sells, amongst other, different tube feeds, feeding tubes (naso-jejenal, PEG’s) and feeding pumps, injectable antibiotics, PPI’s.
She is also involved in the training of registrars and consultants at UFS in terms of specialised feeding.
She yearns for a greater challenge and enters the surgical industry, where she works as specialist representative. She markets and sells surgical prostheses in almost all the specialities and often needed to scrub-in herself.
She operated a limited private practice in-between.
She is passionate about nature, is an avid hunter and loves creating art in different forms.
She was diagnosed with stage 1B cancer of the endocervix in 2013 and had to undergo a radical hysterectomy – Wertheim-Meiggs procedure.
The cancer recurred in 2017, this time stage 4B in the vault and she received 12 chemotherapy treatments.
Until June 2020 her diagnosis was “NED” – “no evidence of disease”!
The cancer metastasized to her lungs and she had a thoracotomy. Two of the three known, enlarged nodules were removed and she is now undergoing chemotherapy again.
She is a proud cancer fighter (and survivor).
She currently works as an independent affiliate and advocate for the nutritional and medical benefits of non-psychoactive, full spectrum hemp oil extract from Cannabis Sativa, as a nutritional supplement.
