Case description
Here is a case where we elected to not use a surgical stent. Due to specific timelines, and b/c it was a fairly straightfwd case, we decided to place a maxillary implant without a stent. However, it takes much more prep time intraorally to ensure that you are headed in the right direction. Occlusal, buccolingual and m/d angulation.it takes a lot of time. Remember, this implant may be forever and every time another practitioner review the patient's radiographs. I'm showing using a pointed bur to make the initial path. A round bur tends to bounce around - just like a drill bit on metal.use a point - and a surgical guide/stent when possible.
