The trick is not to fit into the system - the trick is to notice its mistakes and limitations, and then fix them. This is what Polish students, the originators of MedBiz Innovations, have come up with. They bring together students from various fields of study - technology, medicine, business and related fields - to introduce interdisciplinarity to the Polish market. They have created Poland's first student innovation hub that’s already reaching beyond the country's borders, and an academy through which students can acquire soft skills and delve deeper into their target market.

Many of us don't even realize that we live in so-called ; – during the long process of education, we keep in touch mainly with people from our professional background, with similar interests and a similar view of the world. What if we were to suddenly break out of our surrounding bubbles? This experience would certainly be more difficult for us, but there is a chance that going beyond our comfort zone would contribute to unusual ideas and dynamic development of innovative projects. This is just the second edition of MedBiz Innovations and it is already supported by leading representatives of the Polish MedTech sector, including Adamed, ALAB Laboratioria, Genee, ProPLUS, Perlan Technologies, MEDmeetsTECH and Jutro Medical. In addition the National Drug Institute, Invento Capital, Women in Tech. The programme's honorary patrons include the Medical University of Warsaw, Warsaw School of Economics, University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Jagiellonian University, Warsaw University of Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology. The initiative is also appreciated by international organizations such as Erasmus Student Network. MedBiz Innovations also operates in India in cooperation with the Athena School of Management in Mumbai, in the Netherlands together with Turing Students - Rotterdam as well as in Great Britain and Ukraine.

Join us!
MedBiz Innovations currently runs 3 projects - MedBiz Innovations Program, MedBiz Innovations Academy and Innovations Platform. MedBiz Innovations Program is a mentoring program targeting students of medicine, technical and business universities but also all related faculties. Its goal is to support cross-disciplinary initiatives that can revolutionize our lives and medical services. By providing students with professional mentoring, it prepares young people to start their own business and to better understand the market they want to operate in.
Participants who assemble four-person, interdisciplinary teams are tasked with inventing and describing an innovative product, process or service that combines medicine, new technologies and business. Thirteen best teams get a chance to develop their projects with the help of leading Polish experts from the MedTech sector. Cooperation with professionals is a chance to learn in-depth about the process of creating innovations and implementing them on the market, but most of all it significantly increases the likelihood of future success. In addition, participants have the opportunity to participate in training that will introduce them to the world of startups and business. The result of the program is a project refined in every aspect - its technical capabilities, methods of distribution, business plan, so that after its completion, the authors of the concept feel more confident on the market and can commercialize their ideas. In addition, the winning team receives a cash prize!

In the previous edition, 240 participants took part in the MedBiz Innovations Program, 50 of them reached the second stage and as many as 11 projects were implemented. Right now, the projects aim at raising the standard of living and medical care in Poland and in the entire European Union.
The MedBiz Innovations team encourages you to read the details of the Medbiz Innovations Program at https://www.medbizinnovations.pl. Registration for the program runs from 20.03.2021 to 4.04.2021.

Continuous Development
This year, the students aim much higher - they go beyond the borders of Poland. On the international arena, they cooperate with organizations such as Erasmus Student Network in London or Turing Students - Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Athena School of Management in Mumbai (India). This year's successes also include participation as speakers at the Perspektywy’s Women In Tech Summit 2020. It is noteworthy that MedBiz Innovations has become an honorary patron of Top Disruptors in Healthcare, thus finding itself alongside the European Parliament. Another initiative is being developed within the program - MedBiz Innovations Academy. It is a series of interviews with representatives of the MedTech sector, which aims to provide students not only with information and advice on their own startup activity, but also to give them confidence. The representatives of the program want each person participating in the mentoring program to feel that their idea can be brought to life with the right motivation and consistency. MedBiz Innovations Academy has already featured Adam Janczewski - CEO of Jutro Medical, Piotr Grzegorczyk - co-founder of Covid Genomics and Mateusz Pawełczuk - CEO of AIDA Diagnostics. Talks with further speakers - graduates of various universities with a wide range of interests - are planned. They all have one thing in common - wanting to share the story of their success with students who are a few years younger and who are looking for their place in the market.

Cross-sector collaboration is a recipe for success.
MedBiz Innovations is constantly open for growth and collaboration. This year, students are also launching the MedBiz Innovations Platform. The aim of the emerging platform is to foster year-round collaboration between students, research circles and business on a national and international level. It will aim to build a bridge between different sectors - including science, medicine, technology and business. The initiative will be developed initially at the student level and in the future also at the level of university staff, investors and entrepreneurs. This platform could be described as somewhat similar to an e-commerce site for student projects that are oriented towards commercialization. The platform will support the MedBiz Innovations Program - allowing us to connect participants with each other and promote our partners' events more effectively. In addition, thanks to the knowledge base developed in cooperation with partners, it will provide the opportunity to develop in the field of technology transfer and improve soft skills needed to conduct research or development work. Moreover, from the perspective of entrepreneurs, the platform will have a useful function in HR processes - it will allow to recruit potential employees. It will also support R&D activities in finding sources of potential ideas or projects which can be directly implemented. On the platform, enterprises will be able to report the demand for given technologies, thanks to which teams will be able to form in order to develop a specific solution. This will allow project groups to offer projects that meet market needs. The last, but not least, element of the Innovations Platform will be providing a tool for VC funds and potential investors. They will be able to browse projects in one place in order to make investment decisions. The platform will be a solution for transferring research or development results to the business sphere and will create an opportunity to raise seed funding.
