Our 39th Congress will take place from 9 - 11 October 2019 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Last year, at ESSO 38, we unveiled our Strategic Plan 2018 - 2022 outlining our vision to establish an annual meeting which attracts a larger multidisciplinary audience and create a must-attend forum where cancer surgeons from different specialties and backgrounds learn from each other. Rotterdam, a buzzing metropolis with a breath-taking skyline where more than 170 nationalities live and work together, is connected by a direct (26 minute) train to Amsterdam's Schiphol International Airport and provides the ideal stage for translational debate and intercultural exchange. Our aim is to provide delegates with unique educational workshops and a platform to interact and establish new collaborations.

This year, our congress theme is "Delivering Excellence in Cancer Surgery", featuring a comprehensive three-day scientific programme devised by leading scientific and surgical experts. The latest developments and key aspects in surgical oncology will be discussed through an array of interactive sessions to highlight the significance of a multidisciplinary approach in the management of solid tumours and raise the quality level of surgical oncology care in Europe.

We aim to showcase state-of-the-art advances in surgical research, patient management and practice, standards in surgical oncology, key guidelines, practice changing developments through Plenary Lectures, Meet the Expert Sessions, Debates, Scientific Symposia and Poster Sessions in well-defined tracks covering the main tumour sites.

ESSO 39 will offer a scientific environment and platform for the oncology and surgical oncology community, including general surgeons, surgical oncologists of different specialties, students, surgeons in training, residents, specialist nurses and all healthcare workers involved in managing cancer patients. The event promises extraordinary educational and networking opportunities to provide a richer understanding of the latest techniques to manage solid tumours so that delegates can return to their institutions with pratice-changing insights for the benefit of cancer patients across Europe and beyond.

We look forward to welcoming you in Rotterdam.
