The 2019 24th World IFSO Congress

Dear IFSO Members and Colleagues,

On behalf of the IFSO community and leadership we are delighted to specially invite you to join us in Madrid to attend the 2019 24th World IFSO Congress to be held September 3rd to 7th.

This Congress, as you probably already know is the greatest worldwide bariatric meeting, usually attended by surgeons, multidisciplinary support staff, researchers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals involved with the main mission of IFSO: unite and educate against adiposity and metabolic disorders.

The scientific program will be very comprehensive and focused on updating, investigating and better understanding the widest array of topics in the field of the growing adiposity based chronic diseases, through postgraduate courses; symposia; expert talks; discussion panels; live surgeries; hands on skill labs; video sessions; paper and poster presentations; emerging, endoscopic and new technology sessions. The aim of the Congress is to educate on all the bariatric and metabolic surgery topics but just as well to unite across country borders health care professionals from different specialties, in their fight against the adiposity epidemic. Besides the regular congress’s sessions we are preparing for you very good surprises with different and innovative sessions.

For those of you not familiar with Spain, it will be a splendid occasion for a family holiday before or after the congress. Madrid, capital of Spain, is a fantastic destination swiftly reachable from most cities across the globe, many of them provided with straight flights. It is a cosmopolitan city that combines the most modern infrastructures and the status as an economic, financial, administrative and service center, with a large cultural and artistic heritage, a legacy of centuries of exciting history. Art and culture play a key role in Madrid’s cultural life. The capital has over 60 museums which cover every field of human knowledge. For dinning and hotel services Madrid can serve you with the best restaurants and chefs and very good brands of hotels some of them in walking distance from the convention center. If you are not from Europe and intend to complement the congress moving to some other touristic place in Europe, from Madrid you can reach any other European city in a couple of hours direct flight.

In addition, the Palacio de Congresos Municipal, the Congress venue, located in Campo de las Naciones, considered the core for business development in Madrid, is a modern and light-filled building very close to the Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas International Airport, provided with an excellent net for communication and mobility by metro, bus or private transportation.

Apart from the fact that you will count with all the kindness and hospitality of the Spanish people that with all the Latinity way of being will offer you a very pleasant stay, you can expect to have all the attention and deep disposition to help from the IFSO staff and Congress organization team.
