Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of TTS, we wish to extend a warm welcome to the 2017 Transplantation Science Symposium (TSS 2017) to be held in Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, Canada. This is the second time the Transplantation Science Symposium (formerly Basic Science Symposium) will be held in Canada. We are certain that this meeting will provide a wonderful opportunity for transplant researchers in the Pacific region, and for participants from Europe and the Americas to learn from outstanding international immunologists and transplantation biologists while visiting this stunning region of the world.

The TSS 2017 will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of cutting-edge basic and translational science in and beyond transplantation. We are planning a stellar line-up of regional and international speakers covering a range of topics in immunology, metabolism, the microbiome, carbohydrate biology, stem cell engineering and tissue repair. We are also excited that the Canadian National Transplant Research Program will host a session on “crossing boundaries” in which transplant research that integrates traditionally distinct domains will be discussed. The meeting will also include breakout sessions, oral presentation opportunities for trainees, moderated poster sessions and social events to allow participants and presenters to network and discuss their latest ideas.

The 2017 TSS will be held at the Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel, located on Victoria's vibrant inner harbour, with guest rooms that offer breathtaking waterfront views. Victoria has a mild climate and an abundance of trails and parks; it is a destination for outdoor activities such as whale watching, harbour tours, hiking through ancient rain forests, or strolling through formal English gardens.

Victoria is a quick 30 minute plane ride from Vancouver International airport. The more adventuresome may want to hop on a float plane and enjoy the beautiful views of a harbour to harbour journey over the Salish Sea, or take a cruise across the strait of Georgia on BC Ferries – keep your eyes open for orcas and dolphins!

We look forward to seeing all of you in Victoria, and we promise you a meeting of great science in a spectacular setting with lots of opportunities for networking.
