The 49th Annual Meeting will take place on the beautiful “Garden Isle”, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, the northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain. The conference will commence on Sunday, April 24, 2016 with a Welcome Reception and will adjourn at noon on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa, located on the south shore of the island.

A special hotel group rate for conference attendees has been arranged with the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i and we encourage you to reserve your hotel accommodations as soon as possible at this 4-star venue. Our special group rate is available until March 9, 2016 (Hawai‘i Standard Time) and subject to availability of our room block. There are only a few hotels in the area and there is no guarantee that hotel rooms will be available at nearby properties.

We are pleased to announce that world-renowned, native Hawaiian navigator and president of the Polynesian Voyaging Society, Nainoa Thompson will be the GANS lecturer. Thompson is the first modern-day Polynesian to learn and use wayfinding for long-distance, open-ocean voyaging, and is leading a revival of the art and science of wayfinding. In 2013, the Polynesian Voyaging Society began the Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage in two Polynesian voyaging canoes, named the Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia and are sailing across the Earth’s oceans in an effort to join and grow the global movement toward a more sustainable world.

We warmly welcome you to the islands and look forward to a meaningful and valuable conference!
Aloha,
PAPS 2016 Organizing Committee
