Dear Friends,

On behalf of the local organizing committee, we take great pleasure in inviting you to the 7th Biennial Congress of ESES to be organized in Istanbul from May 19 to 21, 2016. After Pisa (2004), Krakow (2006), Barcelona (2008), Vienna (2010), Gothenburg (2012), and Cardiff (2012), the profession will convene in this unique World Heritage city that straddles the East and the West.

The growing ESES platform offers a unique opportunity for us to discuss and be informed about the management of endocrine surgical conditions. The 2016 ESES Congress has been prolonged for the first time to two full busy days. We will have sessions for about 40 oral free selected papers. There will be three invited lectures including the Charles Proye Hononary Lecture by Barney Harrison, a basic science lecture by Manuel Sobrinho-Simoes and an educational clinical lecture by Barıs Akıncı. The program will include also two symposia on recurrent goitre and recurrent thyroid cancer. There will be also a video session on Tips & Tricks in Endocrine Surgery. We invite you to submit your research to ESES-Istanbul. The accepted abstracts will be published in Langenbeck’s Archives of Surgery. In addition the authors of the selected oral presentations will be invited to submit full-length manuscripts.

This Istanbul gathering is a unique opportunity for all us to network and meet up with our friends and colleagues to build up the cross roads between the East and the West. Istanbul, with its cultural heritage spanning thousands of years, definitely promises an unforgettable experience for all participants. There are not enough words to describe this city. Hence, while visiting, we encourage you to explore Istanbul and all that she has to offer, including a contrast in harmony and presenting a breathtaking choice of sights, smells and tastes. It is the only city in the world, which spreads over two continents, Asia and Europe, with a narrow strait bridging both cultures.

We promise to do our best to make this gathering one of the most successful and memorable events in ESES history. We will be extremely happy to have you in Istanbul!
