The American College of Surgeons (ACS) welcomes submissions to the following programs to be considered for presentation at Clinical Congress 2016, October 16–20, Washington, DC.

The 2016 Clinical Congress program has several cutting-edge educational opportunities to address the knowledge, skills, and professional attributes necessary for delivery of surgical care of the highest quality.

Postgraduate Programs

Didactic/Experiential Courses

These lecture-based courses are designed to increase knowledge and competency on a wide range of specific clinical topics. Courses consist of half-day to multiple-day sessions and provide 4–12 CME credit hours per course. This year, new courses will be offered and added to our selection of well-attended review courses. These courses will aid in your certification or recertification and refresh you on the essentials of your field of practice.

Surgical Skills Courses

Surgical Skills Courses are designed to teach or improve one’s ability to perform a particular skill and include a hands-on component. Courses consist of half- and full-day sessions and offer CME credits, as well as the opportunity for Self-Assessment credits.

Panel Sessions

More than 120 panel sessions, running Monday through Thursday, will cover a wide range of topics of interest to surgeons across the surgical specialties.

Scientific Forum

Abstracts submitted under this umbrella program will be reviewed and selected for presentation by the Scientific Forum. Abstracts selected for presentation will be presented in oral presentations and poster presentations.

Video-Based Education

Video-based presentations serve to educate surgeons and members of surgical teams to improve the care of the surgical patient and safeguard the standards of care in an optimal practice environment.

Meet-the-Expert Discussions

Highly popular Meet-the-Expert Discussions will be offered on timely topics and challenging surgical cases facilitated by a recognized expert on the selected subject matter.

Named Lectures

The Named Lectures feature lecture presentations by preeminent leaders in the field of surgery. Past lecturers have also included leaders in business, politics, the military, and the media.

Town Hall Meetings

Town Hall Meetings provide a venue for discussion of topics that are relevant to the ACS membership and sponsoring committees of the Clinical Congress. The informal atmosphere (no presentations are made) is intended to foster the free exchange of ideas among panelists and attendees. Continuing medical education credit is not granted for attendance at Town Hall sessions.
