The financial burden on the healthcare system is substantial, with estimated costs of diabetes related complications accounting for up to 11% of total global healthcare spending. Healthcare stakeholders need to lead the fight against diabetes by helping those affected by diabetes live healthy lives, preventing the onset and consequences of diabetes, and discovering a cure.
