Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 2014 USANZ Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), the 67th Meeting of the Urological communities of Australia and New Zealand. The USANZ ASM is the major meeting of our Society. It is run by our Society, for our Society and the educational outcomes are for the benefit of our current and future members. This Meeting has become the largest Society-based annual urology meeting in the southern hemisphere. It is now internationally recognised and attendees travel from afar to be part of this occasion.

The theme of the 2014 USANZ ASM is “Future Proofing Urology”.

As many external factors attempt to influence and narrow our clinical and non-clinical activities, this meeting will provide a high-quality educational experience, allowing the free-flow of ideas, encouraging dialogue between people from differing geographical and, potentially, cultural boundaries, all in a friendly and energising environment. This is essential if we are to provide a stable and potentially expanding professional dynamic into the future.

Science, Sun and Southbank encapsulates much of what will be on offer. The setting of the 2014 meeting will be in subtropical Brisbane. Beautiful one day, perfect the next. Brisbane is the major metropolitan centre of South East Queensland. This conurbation extends from Noosa in the north to the Tweed River in the South. It includes some of the most beautiful beaches and waterways in the world, including the charm of Moreton Bay with the jewels of Stradbroke (Straddie) and Moreton Islands.

I am confident the environment of South East Queensland will provide the attendees at the ASM with perfect weather in 2014. This will afford a great opportunity for all to experience Australia’s newest ‘world city’.

The venue for our Meeting will be the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC), situated in beautiful, vibrant Southbank. This is the setting for Australia’s largest man-made beach, a focus for casual and fine dining and, centre for Queensland’s cultural precinct. This includes the internationally acclaimed Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), opened in 2006. All within walking distance of the city centre

The aim of the 2014 ASM is to build on the successes and hard work of the recent past. The major focus will be on both relevant and topical science, plus cutting edge developments. The domestic and international faculty that is being assembled will be second to none and will provide the attendees with information and insight that is not only fascinating, but clinically valuable. Listed below are members of the faculty that we have secured to-date and more will be added in due course. This group is second to none, in terms of ability and international reputation.
