- Dr. James C. Wittig is Vice Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery and Chief of Orthopedic Oncology (Pediatric and Adult) at the John Theurer Cancer Center of Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ. Dr. Wittig maintains an active subspecialty clinical practice that focuses on treating pediatric and adult patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas (cancers) as well as benign bone and soft tissue tumors and metastatic cancers. Dr. Wittig also has a particular subspecialty interest and extensive experience in limb sparing surgery for shoulder girdle tumors, cryosurgery, radiofrequency ablation and minimally invasive biopsies.In 2007, Dr. Wittig won Teacher of the Year award for outstanding leadership, guidance and selfless dedication to the Residents of the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Wittig has recently been named one of the top 13 Orthopedic Oncologists in the United States. He has also been featured in Castle Connolly and New York Magazine as one of the Best Orthopedic Oncologists in the New York area and United States.
