Case description

It is estimated that esophageal cancer is at frequency of 5-6 per 100 000. The most frequent type is the basocellular cancer, commonly localized in the middle part of this organ. During recent years the prevalence of the esophageal adenocarcinoma is growing. Above film describes the case of the 56 year old patient, who was admitted to the hospital because of dysphagia and weight loss of 15 kg. Imaging showed esophageal cancer localized in the upper third of the organ. The patient underwent a surgery with the access through abdominal wall, neck and right thoracotomy. After the esophagectomi the continuity of gastrointestinal tract was reconstructed with the use of stomach.
