Laparoscopic Distal Stomach Excision And D1 Lymph Nodes Removal Due To Adenocarcinoma

Case description

There is no clear definition of laparoscopic surgery application in the cancer of the stomach. The aim of the video is to show an application of the laparoscopic surgery, in the tumor of the stomach. In a 79-year old lady with a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma a CT exam was made. The pylorus resulted thickened and there was a gastric stenosis. EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) assessed the tumor as a T2 N0. A distal stomach excision and D1 lymph nodes removal were performed. No complications were observed and the patient went home on POD2. Pathological staging indicated T2a N0 Mx tumor stage and 31 lumph nodes resulted negative in cancer testing. The patient was followed-up for 12 months and did not show any sign of recurrence.
