Case description

In this video we can see the endoscopic examination of the trachea and the larynx. The patient has inserted the indwelling T-tube because of tracheal stenosis. Due to the position of the upper end of the tube below the vocal cords, the phonation is possible. We can see that the luminous surface of the tube is covered with yellowish and green layer because of its prolonged placement. The tube is made of neutral material, but still, there is a risk of causing the mucosal reaction and the biofilm formation. Not only breathing and phonation are possible due to the T-tube, but also it provides to form the scaffold for the tracheal tissue when the scar and stenotic area are surgically removed. In one year it will be removed to allow the tracheal cavity dimension to be restored.
