Scaphoid Fracture Demonstration

The movie contains Open Reduction & Internal Fixation of a Scaphoid Fracture, presented by Dr. Timothy Allen and Dr. Nicholas Pappas with the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas part of the Greenville Health System. This video contains footage of an actual surgical case performed of a cadaveric specimen. The video has tutorial character and contains also X-ray documentation of guide wire placement and screw placement.
Scaphoid bone is one of the carpal bones, located in the radial side of the wrist. Its function comes from the articulation it creates with radius and ulna and another carpal bones. Scaphoid fractures are said to be the most common of wrist injuries. The surgical fixation increases likelihood of proper healing and best possible outcome.
