Case description

The movie contains Open Reduction & Internal Fixation of a Distal Radius Fracture, presented by Dr. Timothy Allen and Dr. Nicholas Pappas with the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas part of the Greenville Health System. Radial bone is one of two bones of the forearm. It originates from the lateral side of the elbow to the thumb side of the wrist. Its injury may often lead to the bone being broken. Treatment of radius fracture is usually with immobilization, however surgery is sometimes needed. This video contains footage of an actual surgical case performed of a cadaveric specimen. The video has tutorial character and contains also X-ray documentation of placing plate and screw positioning.
