Case description

Here you can see Tikhoff-Linberg surgery: scapula amputation and proximal humerus resection with salvage of the limb. The indications for this surgery are: selected sarcomas, metastatic cancers and other types of locally advanced cancers arising from, involving or invading the scapula. The contradictions are: massive tumor size, neurovascular encasement, poorly performed biopsy resulting in extensive contamination, previous limb sparing surgery and/or radiation. The video contains pre operative x rays, schemes, all of them explained in very detail. Then the viewer is walked through the whole procedure. In the end the results of the surgery are shown, outcome and function is discussed, alternatives are presented.
