This is the case of a 42-year-old female patient with a BMI of 49. She is diabetics and have high blood pressure. She has been worked up with an endoscopy and upper GI series showing the absence of hiatal hernia. She has no reflux. An ultrasound shows liver steatosis. There is no contraindication from a psychiatrist’s point of view. Dr Nagi Safa is a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon (Weight-Loss Surgeon) at the Sacred Heart Hospital of Montreal, and holds an academic appointment at the University of Montreal in Canada. He is also a consultant surgeon for the Advanced BMI Weight Loss Center in Lebanon.
