Case description

Increased lower esophageal sphincter (LES) pressure is a nature of the achalasia - motor disorder of the esophagus. In that condition movement of the esophagus are practically absent, there is also no coordination in answer to swallowing. Pseudoachalasia manifests in similar way to achalasia, but it's caused by gastric adenocarcinoma located in the fundus, what makes an external pressure of the lower part of esophagus. A patient with progressive dysphagia is presented on the following material. Lower esophagus endoscopy biopsies didn't revealed any pathology. A dilation of the esophageal stenosis was undertaken and endoscopic guided ultrasound showed in mediastinum a mass - adenocarcinoma.
