Dear Colleagues,

The 10th Annual Academic Surgical Congress (ASC) will take place February 3-5, 2015 at the Encore Las Vegas, in Las Vegas Nevada. This year's meeting will be extra special as it marks the 10th Anniversary of the ASC. It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since the AAS and SUS decided to join forces with the goal of developing the best surgical scientific meeting in the country. Each year the meeting continues to grow and the science gets better. Our continued growth and success depends on you!

The joint website for electronic abstract submissions is now open and will remain open until the deadline on August 8, 2014. The ASC is an exciting venue to hear and discuss the latest scientific advances in all disciplines pertinent to academic surgery and the quality of the meeting depends on the submission of your best work. The breadth of work being presented includes topics in education, clinical outcomes, health services research, as well as the basic and translational science. In order to better highlight one of the unique aspects of the AAS and SUS, namely our dedication to scientific inquiry across clinical specialties, we have changed the abstract categories this year. This year you will be asked to categorize your abstract in 3 ways: abstract type, scientific area of inquiry, and clinical area (if applicable). The sessions will primarily be arranged according to scientific area rather than clinical specialty to promote cross-specialty interaction.

As in previous years, abstracts will be considered for presentation in full or quickshot oral format. Full oral talks will consist of an 8-minute presentation followed by 4 minutes of discussion. The quickshot talks consist of a 3 minute oral presentation, 5 slides maximum, and 2 minutes of discussion. We will also continue to showcase the top abstracts submitted to the meeting in plenary sessions dedicated to basic science, clinical/outcomes, and education.

We hope that each of you will make plans to join us in Las Vegas as we celebrate our 10-year milestone.

With very best wishes,
