Annual International Conference on Fostering Human Resilience

The term "resilience" has come to mean the ability to withstand, or rebound from, adversity. If ever there was a time to foster human resilience, it is now! We live in the most inter-related global community the world has ever seen. Sadly, however, the world abounds with severe challenges and adversity unlike those previously encountered. Whether their origins are economic, sociological, political, ecological or health-related we are all affected. It is essential therefore that we begin serious dialogues on the factors of resilience that shall allow us to, not only survive, but prosper...to achieve the promises of the new millennium. This we must do for, not only ourselves, but for our children, as well. This Conference is designed to begin those dialogues.
The First International Conference on Fostering Human Resilience represents an exciting turning point in the theory and practice of resilience. Here we shall take an integrated approach to its study. The first such conference of its kind, its goal is to increase awareness, encourage critical thought, and stimulate seminal research on this most critical of issues "human resilience."
We will be encouraging discussions on resilience factors in, not only healthcare and preventive medicine, but business, the environment, in communities, and on the personal level - what some refer to as "psychological body armor."
