Case description

Drainage is commonly used to escort liquid contents from different organs, body cavities or surgical wounds. The most popular is Redon-drainage system, using hollow tubes with multiple apertures on the drain walls, however there are many other types, including Blake drains. The main feature of Blake drains is a presence of longitudinal grooves instead of apertures. This increases the area of drainage and prevents drain occlusions. The animation presented above shows a proper placement of a Blake drain following coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). Video by High Impact Graphics - HighImpact.com
